Pan-European Transport Corridor № 8 is one of ten Pan-European transport corridors and connects the Adriatic Sea with the Black Sea through Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Together with corridors № 4, № 7 and № 9 is one of four passing through Bulgaria.

The main destination of Pan-European Transport Corridor № 8 is: Bari / Brindisi - Otranto / Otrant Strait - Durres / Vlora - Tirana - Elbasan - Kyafasan - Struga - Kicevo - Gostivar - Tetovo - Skopje - Kumanovo - Kriva Palanka - Deve Bair - Kyustendil - Sofia - Plovdiv - Burgas / Varna.

The intermodal corridor includes ports, roads, railways, airports, multimodal and intermodal transport infrastructure - supporting facilities required to manage traffic on the route.

The total length of the Pan-European Transport Corridor № 8 is between 1220 and 1350 km, depending on the specifics of its road and rail routes. They have been built and are in operation. The only unfinished Bulgarian part of the corridor is the railway at Gyueshevo station at the Bulgarian-Macedonian border with a length of about 2.5 km.
